Patient Account Representative

You have experience in customer service within the healthcare industry, are proficient in medical billing and collections, and possess a knowledge and understanding of health insurance policies. As a Patient Account Representative, you are responsible for receiving and resolving first line inquiries concerning patient accounts by patient responsible parties and internal staff via phone and email. This includes, but is not limited to, inquiries regarding bills, insurance coverage, and payment options.

What You'll Do
  • Act as the first line of support to patients, their responsible party, and internal staff regarding any questions about an account, statement, and insurance coverage
  • Document all internal and external inquiries concerning patient accounts
  • Root cause issues to patient accounts, attempt to resolve, and document resolution as appropriate in billing system
  • Communicate resolution of issue and educate responsible parties on their financial responsibility for services rendered
  • Provide patients with resources and options for payment
  • Develop strong relationships with patients and families, ensuring patient satisfaction
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

What You’ll Need

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in behavioral, medical, or mental health billing and collections required
  • Strong understanding of health insurance policies
  • Ability to learn new software and systems
  • Comfortable working in a busy, everchanging office environment
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and verbal and written communication skills

Your Pay and Benefits

  • Starting rate of $19.00 per hour
  • Monday through Friday schedule
  • 19 days of PTO (11 days of paid time off, 7 paid holidays, 1 paid flex holiday)
