Description

You possess basic knowledge of health insurance terminology, have experience with customer service within the healthcare industry, and demonstrate computer literacy. As an Authorization Specialist, you will be responsible for obtaining reauthorizations for active patients and assisting in performing eligibility checks for ongoing patients. You will directly impact all aspects of this growing business and its 5,000 employees in twelve states! 

What You'll Do

  • Obtain reauthorizations for active patients 
  • Performs eligibility checks for ongoing patients 
  • Enter information accurately and timely 
  • Updates patient insurance and demographics as needed 
  • Submit and receive authorizations daily 
  • Follow and monitor specific tasks as outlined in computer workflow software; meeting deadlines with associated tasks 
  • Print out and assemble documents to fax to appropriate persons 
  • Contact physician offices and insurance offices via fax and/or phone 
  • Attend meetings and trainings as requested 

What You'll Need

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associates or bachelors degree in healthcare administration or related field is a plus 
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills required 
  • At least 1 year of experience in medical billing or insurance authorizations preferred 
  • Salesforce experience preferred 
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment such as desktops, laptops, fax machines, telephones, and 10-keys

Your Pay and Benefits

  • Starting rate of $18.00 per hour
  • Monday through Friday schedule 
  • 19 days of PTO (11 days of paid time off, 7 paid holidays, 1 paid flex holiday)
